Eggshell-porcelain

is a very thin and briddle porcelain of chinese origin.
Pieces of top-quality are so thin, light shines through like alabaster or glaze itself.
In Holland it was re-invented and briefly produced by pottery Rozenburg around 1900 in The Hague.
The procedure to make it was a secret and now it is lost.
Eggshell is very expensive; because of it's briddlenes a loss of 50% in the oven was accepted; the decorations were very timeconsuming.
Only a few pieces are left.
